When my voice begin to fades into memory

and the silence from me stretches longer than the sky,
you will then reach for the love and attention
and wonder why you never listened to me deeply enough.

The spaces I once filled with laughter
will feel vacant,
like the wind through an empty house.
You will sit inside the rooms we once  shared
and find my absence even louder than my presence ever was.

When I am gone,
the little things I did for you unnoticed,
will prick at you like thorns,
and you will wish you had seen them manifest.

You will miss me!

Yes! You will miss the way I lingered in the corners,
watching and waiting for you to notice me,
but I will be too far away then,
scattered like dry leaves across a season you can not return to.

You will miss me!
Ohh! You will miss me in the quiet moments between breaths,
in the spaces between words,
where love once did whispered and spread but was never heard nor noticed.
