How many scars
before the stars?
How many nights
alone and cold?
We’ve climbed so high,
my love and I,
To touch the crescent
in the sky.
Each scar a step,
each tear a mile.
Now, we sit and smile
and the world’s asleep.
The dark that held us for so long
point to where we now belong:
Up there, among the dreams.
Our scars now constellations.
From depths of night
to heights above,
We’re here finally:
this ledge, this love.
