A land once fertile,
now lies in ruins.
The indigenes suffer,
but their cries unheeded to.
Chaos in leadership,
the economy is broken
way beyond repair;
Leaving many in despair.
Streets now desolate,
citizens fear to demonstrate,
Health facilities understaffed,
with patients overcrowded.
I pity this nation.
Once a bright future,
now uncertain.
torn apart by corruption’s weight.
I pity this nation.
Justice is now a luxurious
while freedom’s just a tale.
The people’s voices silenced,
their hopes have failed.
I pity this nation.
A nation’s potential,
wasted and untold,
I weep for the future,
of this land grown old.
I pity this nation.
