CROWN CHRONICLES: DAY 6

The Art of Becoming While Unbecoming

Sometimes the most beautiful transformations require both addition and subtraction. This year taught me that becoming who I’m meant to be required unbecoming who I was trained to be. Like a sculptor removing excess stone to reveal the masterpiece within, I had to chip away at old patterns to reveal my authentic self.

The Journey To Unbecoming

  • I unlearned silence when situations demanded my voice.
  • I unlearned accepting disrespect as a form of respect.
  • I unlearned the belief that age automatically commands submission.
  • I unlearned putting others’ comfort above my peace.
  • I unlearned the habit of seeking permission to exist.
  • I unlearned the art of shrinking to make others comfortable.

To Becoming:

  • I became my own advocate when silence was no longer an option.
  • I became comfortable with setting boundaries without explanation.
  • I became selective about who deserves space in my story.
  • I became confident in my decisions without seeking validation.
  • I became the author of my own destiny.
  • I became a guardian of my peace.

The transformation wasn’t linear. Some days, I caught myself slipping into old patterns; the instinct to please, the reflex to silence my voice, the habit of putting others first. But with each step back into old habits, my new self grew stronger in resistance.

The art of becoming while unbecoming is like holding two truths at once:

  1. You can honor where you came from while choosing where you’re going
  2. You can respect others while demanding respect for yourself
  3. You can appreciate lessons while rejecting toxic teachers
  4. You can be grateful for the past while refusing to live there

This year’s greatest lesson wasn’t in what I gained, but in what I released:

  1. Released the need to explain my growth
  2. Released the guilt of outgrowing situations
  3. Released the pressure to maintain toxic connections
  4. Released the burden of others’ expectations

In this dance of becoming and unbecoming, I learned that transformation isn’t just about adding new colors to your palette but it’s about having the courage to erase the ones that no longer serve your masterpiece.

Today, I stand as both artist and artwork. In unbecoming what others expected, I became who I was always meant to be. Some call it change; I call it alignment. This is the art of becoming while unbecoming, the delicate balance of growth and release, of building and breaking, of holding on and letting go.

Because sometimes, to wear your crown properly, you must first unlearn what made you doubt you deserved it in the first place.

Signed,

The One Who Learned to Both Build and Break Free
