Hitherto, I felt I needed a companion to be in charge of my own affairs,
cos I lost paths with courage.
The ups of life got me down,
and while on the low, I found my highs weighing me.
I faced the dares of manning up a task.
The woman in me fell prostrate to the touchstone of old,
and rolled under the precept “two heads are better than one”
As at then, I saw the world to be survival of the fittest,
until I was left with no option but to fit in to survive.
Until I broke the ties of belonging and cut of the sense of attachment,
until I believed I’m a whole world in a fine beanpole,
Until I realized and adored the queen in me,
and now, nowhere feels better than my being.
