When did nightmares become so woven into our lives,
That we’ve come to expect them, day after day,
As if they’re all we have to look forward to?
Maybe this is the reality
The part they never show on the screen,
Where even a drop of joy costs more than gold.
Is this our new normal?
They say the villain makes the story interesting,
But does it have to be every night?
Can’t I get a break—just a moment to breathe?
Give me some space, a moment’s peace,
To live like there’s no end in sight,
To dance in rain with bare release,
And chase the fading edge of light.
Are these dreams too wild, too far,
Reserved for hearts that know no fear?
Or is it just the way we are now
Chained by time as joy draws far?
